NEET UG 2024 counselling deferred till further notice

NEET UG 2024 Counselling: The counselling for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET UG) 2024 is deferred till further notice. The NEET UG all-India quota (AIQ) seat counselling was scheduled to start on July 6. The update comes after the Supreme Court refused to delay the NEET UG counselling which was scheduled to begin today.

The apex court led by CJI DY Chandrachud along with Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra will hear various NEET UG 2024 pleas on July 8.

The NEET UG counselling is held in multiple rounds with stray vacancy rounds and mop-up rounds. Students who qualified the medical entrance test will have to first register and pay the fees against the NEET UG counselling, fill in the choices and lock them, upload documents and report to the allotted institute in person.

NEET UG counselling under the 15 per cent AIQ includes seats at government colleges, central and deemed universities, seats reserved for children of Insured Persons (IP quota) in Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) medical colleges and seats available at the Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) Pune.

Meanwhile, the National Testing Agency had released the result of the retest of the 813 (out of 1563) candidates that was conducted on June 23. With the revised results, the topper tally has come down from 67 to 61, as six of the candidates – whose score jumped to perfect 720/720 after they were awarded grace marks due to loss of exam time – failed to get a perfect score in the retest. However, they repeated high scores upwards of 680.
