Country’s top universities for humanities: JNU is at number one, then Jamia Millia Islamia, take admission on the basis of CUET UG score

This week, the National Testing Agency (NTA) can release the results of CUET UG. Through this exam, one can get admission in the top universities of the country for graduation after 12th.

This time a total of 190 universities are participating in CUET UG. This means that on the basis of the score of this exam, one can get admission in 39 central universities, 39 state universities, 15 government institutions and 97 private and deemed universities.

According to NIRF Ranking-2023, 3 central universities located in Delhi are included in the top 10 universities of the country. The name of Jadavpur University of West Bengal is also included in this list.

1. Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi (JNU)
JNU is a central university. Here studies are conducted in different University Teaching Departments (UTDs). The university also has 20 dedicated schools and research centers for specialized programs. In JNU, you can take admission in undergraduate courses only in School of Language, Literature and Culture Studies, Sanskrit and Indic Sciences and School of Engineering. Apart from this, for humanities subjects, you can take admission for post graduation in departments like School of International Studies and School of Social Sciences.

Courses: You can study Humanities from departments like School of International Studies, School of Social Sciences, School of Language, Literature and Culture Studies in the university.

You can take admission in 20 courses from the School of Languages ​​like French and Francophone Studies, BA in German Translation, Hindi Translation, Russian, Japanese, Chinese, Pashto, Linguistics.

2. Jamia Millia Islamia, Delhi (JMI)
Jamia Millia Islamia is a central university. There are a total of 11 faculties like Architecture and Acoustics, Law, Dentistry, Management Studies, Education, Sciences and Humanities and Languages. Including all the faculties, studies are conducted in a total of 48 departments here. A total of 86 masters programs are offered in the university.

Courses: Faculty of Humanities and Languages ​​has 9 departments like History and Culture, Islamic Studies, Persian, English, Foreign Languages.

For Social Sciences courses, you can do graduation in subjects like Political Science, Sociology, Commerce and Business Studies.

3. Jadavpur University, Kolkata
Jadavpur University is a state university. It has departments like Arts, Engineering and Technology, Science, Law and Management.

Courses: The Faculty Council of Arts here has departments like Bengali, Economics, English, History, Library and Information Sciences, Physical Education and Sociology. You can study masters from all these departments.

How to get admission: You can apply for admission in all these courses on the basis of CUET UG exam score. In some courses, admission is also done on the basis of merit or entrance exam score.

4. Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi (BHU)
BHU is the first central university of the country. It was centralized in 1916 through the Banaras Hindu University Act. BHU also has 5 different institutes associated with it such as Institute of Sciences, Institute of Agricultural Sciences and Institute of Environment and Sustainable Development. Apart from this, there are a total of 8 departments like Faculty of Arts, Education, Performing Arts, Social Sciences.

Courses: Under the Faculty of Arts and Faculty of Performing Arts, one can take admission in BA courses in subjects like Applied Arts, Bengali, Dance, Economics, Education, English, Foreign Languages, English, French Studies, Geography, Geology, German.

5. Manipal University, Udupi, Karnataka
This is a private deemed university. It has different departments of Health Sciences, Science and Technology and Liberal Arts and Humanities.

    Courses: From here you can take admission in courses like BA English Literature, Sociology, BA English Language, History. Apart from this, you can take admission in courses like Media and Communication, Public Policy, European Studies, Philosophy.
